Those who choose to stay in a hotel in Lourdes usually combine this with a visit to the famous pilgrimage site, the place where Bernadette Soubirous at the age of 14 saw Mary appear a few times. Some 4 million pilgrims visit the sanctuaries each year. But not everyone goes to Lourdes for this reason. The region has many other things to offer, ranging from cultural tours, to plenty of natural beauty. The proximity of the Pyrenees makes Lourdes extra attractive, even for those not so keen on (often populated) pilgrimage resorts. Many nationalities are present and whether they come to fraternize around their religion or not, they all enjoy the beautiful surroundings during their stay in a hotel in Lourdes!
